Lincs Junior League Rd 3

Louth SC hosted the 3rd and final round of the Lincs Junior League on Saturday 15th September at the Meridian Leisure Centre. A gritty performance was put in by the club’s under 12 years junior swimmers, finishing in 4th place both on the night, and in the League overall. Louth had 2 new swimmers taking part in their first competitive gala – Kieren Bailey and Amelia (Millie) Grantham, who both helped achieve well-deserved points for the team.

Louth only had 2 wins on the night, 9 second places and 11 thirds. The first win came from the ever improving Jay Clarke, who was also “Louth Swimmer of the Night”, in his favoured event, the Boys 11/u 50m Backstroke. Jay got himself a huge 1.5 second Pb and a bettered County Qualifying time (CQT) and finished just under half a second in front of the swimmer from Lincoln Vulcans “A”, League winners overall. The second victory came from the very strong 12 year old Emma Maw in the Girls 12/u 50m Freestyle, finishing just 0.3 seconds in front of the swimmer from Cleethorpes (CADS).

Second places went to Paige Kelly – Girls 10 yr 50m Breaststroke (Pb and CQT); Emma Maw – Girls 12/u 50m Butterfly (Pb and CQT); Joseph Vickers – Boys 10 yr 50m Backstroke; Joshua Wright – Boys 12/u 50m Freestyle (CQT) and 50m Breaststroke (CQT); Emma Harrop – Girls 11/u 50m Freestyle (Pb and CQT)and 50m Breaststroke (Pb and CQT); Caitlin Aiken – Girls 9 yr 25m Butterfly: Boys 4 x 25m Freestyle relay team (Jevon George-Jones, Oliver Hardesty, William Thompson and Jay Clarke).

Valuable 3rd places were gained individually by Caitlin Aiken (Girls 9 yrs 25m Backstroke); Paige Kelly (Girls10 yrs 50m Freestyle); Joseph Vickers (Boys 10 yrs 50m Freestyle); Jay Clarke (Boys 11 yrs 50m Breaststroke).

Relay Team 3rd places went to the following swimmers; Victoria patch, Poppy Jacklin, Millie Grantham and Caitlin Aiken (Girls 9 yrs 4×25 Freestyle); Shaun Muns, Oliver Hardesty, Drew Thompson, Joe Vickers (Boys 10 yrs Medley and Freestyle); Ely Miller, Emma Harrop, Megan Gilpin, Paige Kelly (Girls 11 /u Freestyle and Medley); Jevon George-Jones, Jay Clarke, Drew Thompson, William Thompson (Boys 11/u Medley); Luke Freeman, Callum Kidd, Jevon George-Jones, Joshua Wright (Boys 12/u Freestyle).

Louth swimmers clocked up 19 Pb’s and 10 County Qualifying times during this exciting gala.

Results in points on the night were – 1st CADS (188), 2nd -Lincoln Vulcans “A” (173), 3rd Scunthorpe (135), 4th Louth (117), 5rth City of Lincoln Pentaqua (115).
